Is it possible to change my beneficiary?
Each structure is unique in its design. This will depend on how your structure was set up. Please contact us so we can help. clientsupport@baxterstructures.com
Is it possible to get a cash advance or cash in my structure?
No. A structured settlement cannot be modified in any way. Once the plan is locked in, no changes can be made. These regulations are outlined by Canada Revenue Agency in order for you to receive your payments free of any tax. Structured settlements are non-assignable, non-commutable, and non-transferable. The advertisements you may have seen on television are from the United States and do not apply to Canadian structured settlements. If you need access to cash and are approaching your bank for a loan, we would be pleased to provide your bank with a letter confirming your structured settlement payments.
Do I have to report my structure payments on my tax return?
No. CRA deems the structured settlement payments as tax-free and are therefore not reported on your income tax return.
